How it works
- An SMS threatens that your account or connection is blocked today.
- The link opens a fake bank-style page.
- It collects your login, card details and OTP, then empties the account.
Red flags
- A 'bank' SMS from a 10-digit mobile number
- 'Today', 'in 2 hours', 'immediately'
- A lookalike link with extra words such as kyc, verify, update
Stay safe
- Do KYC only at the branch, in the official app or on the official website
- Type the website address yourself instead of tapping links
- Report the SMS on Chakshu (sancharsaathi.gov.in)
Already happened? Act fast
- Call 1930National Cyber Crime Helpline. The sooner you call, the better the chance of stopping the money.
