How it works
- Fingerprints are copied from documents or fake 'survey' devices.
- Your Aadhaar number is found on a photocopy.
- Money is withdrawn at an AePS point without an OTP.
Red flags
- Withdrawal alerts you didn't make
- Strangers asking for fingerprints for a 'scheme' or 'survey'
- Aadhaar photocopies shared carelessly
Stay safe
- Lock your biometrics on the official myAadhaar portal or mAadhaar app (uidai.gov.in)
- Share a masked Aadhaar where possible
- Report unexplained withdrawals to your bank and 1930 at once
