Scam Digital arrest scam: fake police and CBI video calls
There is no 'digital arrest' in Indian law. No police, CBI, customs or RBI officer arrests anyone on a video call or asks for money.

How it works
- A call claims a parcel in your name held drugs, or that your number is linked to a crime.
- A 'police officer' keeps you on a video call for hours, with fake IDs and court papers.
- You're told to move your money to a 'safe' account for verification.
Red flags
- Police, CBI or a court on a video call
- 'Don't tell anyone' and 'don't hang up'
- Transferring money to 'verify' or 'clear' your name
Stay safe
- Hang up. Real police send written notices
- Tell family right away: isolation is the scammer's main weapon
- Report the number on Chakshu (sancharsaathi.gov.in) and call 1930 if you paid
