SCAM
How it works
- A caller or an 'External' chat account claims to be IT.
- They create urgency: spam from your account, a migration, a lock-out.
- They ask for a code, a password or remote access.
Red flags
- Chat accounts marked External
- Requests for passwords, codes or remote sessions
- Unknown numbers claiming to be the helpdesk
Stay safe
- Hang up and call the helpdesk number you already know
- Decline external chat requests you didn't expect
- Report the attempt to security
Already happened? Act fast
- Call 1930National Cyber Crime Helpline. The sooner you call, the better the chance of stopping the money.
